About the Conference
The IASSIDD Asia-Pacific Regional Conference is an opportunity for people to attend meetings of IASSIDD Special Interest Research Groups (SIRGs): Aging, Autism, Challenging Behaviour & Mental Health, Communication, Comparative Policy & Practice, Down Syndrome, Ethics, Families, Inclusive Education, Parenting with Intellectual Disability, Physical Health, Profound Intellectual & Multiple Disability, Quality of Life.

IASSIDD Asia Pacific Regional Conference had been taking place for more than a decade at different locations in Asia Pacific. However, this is the first time that Thailand has been chosen to be the host to this vital Conference with a theme “Inclusiveness and Sustainable Development”.
With the new Sustainable Development framework proposed to guide development until 2030, the international community is in an important transition period. There are now 166 countries adopted the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) as national law. However, the sole utilization of the CRPD as a guiding framework may not fully guarantee the implementation of the SDGs. Persons with disabilities must, therefore, be a part of identifying challenges, and a part of building their solutions.
The four-day conference seeks to bring together professionals such as physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, researchers, special educators or non-governmental organizations who involve with intellectual disabilities and their parents throughout the world!
The purpose of this conference is to create an interactive platform for sharing scientific advances, new technologies, research findings, innovative strategies, best practices, integrated services and success stories with regard to the needs of people with intellectual disabilities, their networking, service and support systems that cover all age group.

Rajanukul Institute is a government organization under Department of Mental Health, Ministry of Public Health. The organization provides services to people with intellectual disabilities at national level aiming to improve their quality of life. The institute does not only focus on research and development but also policy advocacy.
